Mailchimp campaigns - What's the benefits of automatic scheduling vs sending now?
The Traditional Way – Click and Send!
When you go to send your campaign, you will notice two buttons towards the top of the page on the right-hand side. The “send” button does exactly what it says on the tin and it sends the email to your subscribers as soon you hit the button.
The good thing about this method is that we know the campaign has definitely been sent and we know exactly what time it has gone out.
But sometimes you may need to be working late in the night on your email marketing and you may not want to be plugging your business while no one is awake to even see it? It is safe but it is not always the most practical approach. But that is exactly where the schedule button to the left can help.
How To Schedule a Mailchimp Campaign For Effective Email Marketing?
The benefits of scheduling an email marketing campaign
Scheduling a campaign can fix the exact problems we mentioned in the previous section. The scheduling method can mean that you can write all your week’s/month’s emails all at once and then can schedule each campaign to go out at the exact time/date you would like it to.
There are a lot of debates about when the best time to send a campaign is. With Business to Business, I would have typically suggested sending campaigns on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday between either 10:30 am and 12 or 2pm and 4. These are the times that people are most likely to be at their desks. And for Business to Consumer emails, you should aim for when people are less likely to be at work. Between 7 pm and 9 pm or the mornings at weekends.

Mailchimp Scheduling: What's the best email times to send?
However, with Covid, improved technology and with people valuing a better work/life balance, these typical rules are not quite as important. Millions of people now work from home every day and work flexi-time, which means the email times are not quite as important when sending campaigns to businesses.
The improved Wi-Fi, 4g and mobile phone technology also mean that the traditional rules for B2C emails do not apply so much either. Nowadays everyone has a mobile device which they are glued to 24 hours a day. So, they will see your emails no matter what time you send them. Many people are more likely to even check their personal emails while they are meant to be working so they can pass the time.
There is no real right or wrong answer when it comes down to scheduling your campaigns. You are best off testing a few different times and see what works best for you via the reporting tool. I always say, there is no point comparing the results of your campaign to anyones apart from your own.
Email Marketing - Automate your campaigns to save time
If you are looking to send a mass campaign to a large bulk of your audience like a Newsletter, or a new product update etc, then sending a traditional email via clicking send or schedule is the best way to go about it. But when it comes to welcoming new customers/new subscribers and then sending them onboarding emails, creating a new campaign each time and manually and manually sending each time someone joins will drive you crazy and will waste so so much of your precious time.
Automating a large chunk of your email marketing will truly change your business. When you automate your emails, you only need to do the work once. You can write all of your content and design your templates for a whole email series then build this out via MailChimp’s new “Client Journey” tool or the “Classic Automation Tool”.
Make Money Whilst You Sleep
It allows you to send an email to every new subscriber/customer automatically, as soon as they sign up. You can then set rules for when they receive follow up emails. This is how you can make money while you sleep. MailChimp can be your digital salesperson while you are working on the parts of your business that you enjoy and what really adds value. Sending personalised emails to every new contact is not needed anymore.
